Denver Shadows 2073

Session 1
You all meet in a bar...

Dumpster Magee put Traxx, Blade, Raiden, and Link onto a job meeting at the Splatter Bar.
The Johnson, later determined to be a well-known print journalist from Native American Broadcast Service (NABS), explains that his employers are looking for an investigation and possible extraction, which could involve travel between sectors.
He gives them the office address (in the UCAS sector) of a Horizon print journalist (Enyinnaya Silvo Van Buren), who has been investigating something big. The runners are to tail him and find out what he is working on. He is likely in danger as well. The runners are not to make contact, but if the target is attacked they should interfere to save him. The Johnson gives them a commcode to contact him in case this happens.
Otherwise they are simply to report back to the Splatter Bar every two days, and depending on their findings they may be instructed to kidnap and take the target somewhere. The Johnson offers them ¥5,000 each. Raiden negotiates for ¥300 extra per kill, which the Johnson quickly agrees to as long as the runners keep a low profile.
As soon as the Johnson leaves, the runners notice another human bar patron immediately get up and follow him out. The team was concerned about their Johnson’s health, so Traxx sent his Flyspy drone to follow them. That patron got in a car with the Johnson and drove off.
Link quickly browsed the Matrix and soon found that the Johnson was another journalist and rather well-known: Nahuel Ulysses.
Blade sent a spirit to look for the target, but after a short while the spirit couldn’t find him.

Session 2
Another job, and some scouting legwork

Twigs, Raiden’s drug dealer contact, asked for her help with a job. She met him on his corner in the Hub and got the lowdown: some young naive wageslave was looking for some runners for a corporate B&E job. Twigs argued he should get an even split for finding the job, but after some negotiation Raiden got him down to 30%, plus a couple free doses of Jazz.
Raiden headed to the meet site, a park is the CAS sector. She also called Link for some backup at the meet.
Meanwhile, Link and Traxx and Blade were still at the Splatter Bar working the matrix for info about Van Buren. Link found a ton of data about his commlink’s whereabouts over the last couple weeks, much of it filled with gaps of several hours. Traxx’s tried to match his news photo to current trid feeds but came up empty. Blade summoned a second spirit, this time with the Search power, to help find him faster. Link convinced everyone to take Traxx’s van to the park.

The Johnson had come with some muscle – Raiden spotted him hanging out near a Stuffer Shack with several Fronts gang members. She hid across the park and paid a homeless man to deliver a disposable commlink to him. Introducing himself as “Mr. Stone,” he explained that he needed a blood sample stolen from a medical facility in a small Shiawase factory…and replaced with a different blood sample. It was important that this replacement not be discovered, and to cover it up he suggested smashing some equipment and leave behind some eco-literature. It also needed to be done before Monday (the 24th). He said he didn’t have much money due to some recent medical trouble, and when he learned that Raiden represented four runners, he offered ¥1500 for each of them. Raiden couldn’t get him to pay more.
At some point, the others pulled up in the van, and Link proceeded to hack the guy’s commlink. His public profile revealed his real name to be Keith Summers, an employee of Shiawase. More intriguingly, he was streaming the conversation to some node nearby. In a couple seconds, Link was able to find and hack that node as well, which turned out to be Eileen Summers’ commlink, Keith’s wife.
Finally, Raiden had Mr. Stone walk into the park and leave behind the commlink, as well as a credstick with half the payment (¥3000). After this he and the Fronts left on motorcycles. The team also found a small holo-projector next to the commlink. After some discussion and apprehension, the activated the projector and saw it contained images of a couple pieces of equipment – presumably where the blood samples are stored, or perhaps some other equipment in the factory.

Sometime after midnight, the group decided to proceed to the PCC sector and scout out the factory. Though it was technically past curfew, Traxx disguised his van as a taxi taking several drunk revelers home to get past the checkpoint. Link spoofed a flying traffic drone to avoid any further scrutiny on the way there. Traxx’s flyspy was able to get close enough to get a general layout of the facility. (Not shown: a seperate human-ork sized gate on south side leading to an employee parking lot to the south. This gate has a smaller camera mounted just inside.)

Description: 4.5m electrified chain link fence (outer perimeter), with enormous sliding fence panel as the main gate. A floodlight is mounted either side of the gate.
The stock yard area is picketed by a single loop of chain about a meter high (easy to hop over). It contains stacks of giant machinery, piping, girders, etc. The southeast area of the stock yard is covered, and houses some crates and a large lifting vehicle capable of being remote piloted. It has various articulated claws and a 4m wide forklift.
The power transformers and station is surrounded by a 3m chain link fence.
The guard house and security area contains about 3 guards at all times, with 3 more guards patrolling or stationed elsewhere. The guards switch out occasionally. In total there are 3 humans, 2 dwarves, and 1 ork. They wear armor vests (8/6) and carry light pistols and batons. The ork also wears an armor helmet at all times. There are two GM-Nissan Doberman drones mounted with assault rifles “sleeping” inside the guard area.

The group discussed how to approach the job until around 0100 Saturday, then decided to all crash at Traxx’s place for the night to avoid crossing another sector border. At approximately 0300 Blade’s second spirit finally found Van Buren, sleeping at a run-down motel in the CAS sector. His astral trail was somehow obscured.

Put questions and actions in the comments below! I think we should start next session with the factory action, so let me know what you want to do before then, and work out your plan.
